How does it work?AFP2WEB Technologies reside on your Web server or other back-end application server. An InfoPrint Solutions Company Professional Services team assists you with installing the solution and integrating it with your application.
AFP2WEB Technologies consist of four components, all of which are Double Byte Character Sets (DBCS) enabled to support traditional and simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
AFP2WEB — HTML feature- Available interfaces: this feature is tightly integrated with DB2® Content Manager On Demand and Websphere Information Integrator Content Edition. It also offers a command line interface and a C/C++ API set, and a Java interface.
- Supported platforms:
- Windows 2000 or later, AIX, HP-UX, Sun Solaris, Linux (x/p/z Series)
- OS/390 – z/OS (UNIX System Services)
- iSeries (AIX LPAR and PASE – Portable Application Solutions Environment)
- Available interfaces: this feature is tightly integrated with DB2® Content Manager On Demand and Websphere Information Integrator Content Edition. It also offers a command line interface and a C/C++ API set, and a Java interface.
- Supported platforms:
- Windows 2000 or later, AIX, HP-UX, Sun Solaris, Linux (x/p/z Series)
- OS/390 – z/OS (UNIX System Services)
- iSeries (AIX LPAR and PASE – Portable Application Solutions Environment)
- Security: owner and end-user password protection 40/128-bit encryption and digital signature support are available.
- Consists of two programs
- BUILDICT – Windows Graphical User Interface, which allows users to select triggers and generates XML data tags and associate XML data tags with AFP data.
- AFP2XML, which reads existing AFP file, uses XML control file to determine what data to extract and how to format and creates XML file. Uses JAVA User Programming Exit for complex data extraction requirements.

AFP2XML — Batch Conversion
AFP Visual Indexer- Consists of two programs:
- BuildICT – Windows 2000 or later Graphical User Interface, which allows users to select triggers and manipulate group/page level index values, and creates an "index control file."
- IndexAFP, which reads existing AFP files and writes new AFP files with group/page level tagged logical elements (TLEs), and it generates data, resource and index output files such as ACIF. Uses JAVA User Programming Exit for complex indexing requirements. Provides the ability to parse NOP strings and create index values.

- IndexAFP – Windows 2000 or later, AIX, HP-UX, Sun Solaris, Linux (x/p/z Series), OS/390 – z/OS (UNIX System Services)

Capabilities
AFP2Web Technologies offer the following capabilities:- Convert AFP documents into Web-savvy HTML, XML and PDF formats.
- View and print documents using a Web browser such as Netscape or Microsoft® Internet Explorer for HTML and XML, and Adobe Acrobat Reader for PDF.
- Maintain AFP document fidelity.
- Use the Visual Indexer component to add or update indexes to fully composed AFP files and facilitate file segmentation.
- Display images and text onscreen with the same fidelity as if they were printed.
- Use search and navigation features to retrieve information and maneuver within multi-page documents.
- Customize AFP document transformation with regularly used images, such as logos, color and more to reduce processing time and enhance viewing.
- Add another layer of security to PDF files with passwords and encryption.
- Transform complex documents, including files that contain Double Byte Character Sets.
Prerequisites
Client software requirements- Netscape® 7.1 (or later) or Microsoft Internet Explorer™ 6.0 (or later) is all that is needed to view HTML documents.
- Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® 5.0 (or later) is all that is needed to view PDF documents.
- Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® 7.0.5 (or later) is needed to view PDF documents that have been digitally signed.
