InfoPrint Receives Top Environmental Accolades From Statewide Sustainability Program
The Environmental Leadership Program acknowledges IBM, Ricoh joint venture as a leader in sustainability.
BOULDER, Colo. – October 19, 2009InfoPrint Solutions Company, the joint venture between IBM and Ricoh, today announced that it has been named a Gold Leader in the Colorado Environmental Leadership Program, the highest level of recognition achievable. InfoPrint will be present at the organization’s 10th Annual Awards event on October 20, 2009 at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.
The Environmental Leadership Program is a statewide environmental recognition and reward program administered by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment's Sustainability Program. It offers benefits and incentives to members that voluntarily go beyond compliance with state and federal regulations. To become a Gold Leader, a company must have an operational, facility-specific Environmental Management System while meeting the beyond-compliance requirements for the Gold level.
“I have looked at all areas of our business to ensure that our solutions can help clients become more sustainable,” said Joe Czyszczewski, Chief Sustainability Officer for InfoPrint. “We also continue to make strides to reduce our environmental impact as a supplier in efforts to constantly become a better global corporate citizen. With this recent recognition from the state of Colorado, it is clear that our efforts are headed in the right direction and we are thrilled to be honored with such an acknowledgement.”
Since its inception, InfoPrint has kept its sustainability initiatives at the heart of each of its offerings including hardware, software and services. Accomplishments include:
- Print Less Waste
One of InfoPrint’s precise marketing techniques, replacing inserts typically received with monthly bills and statements with onserts, can reduce paper waste by up to 40 percent. This has been proven through recent work with a leading hotel chain and a top cable operator in the region. - Energy Conservation
Four out of five eligible InfoPrint printer and multifunctional devices (MFPs) had at least one model available that is ENERGY STAR® compliant. Also, by replacing production class electro photographic printers with inkjet printers, InfoPrint has worked with clients to reduce power consumption by up to 50 percent. - Waste Reduction
InfoPrint renovated its Boulder Executive Briefing Center in 2008. It was estimated that 90 percent of the original building’s shell was reused and nearly 70 percent of the materials removed were recycled. - Certifications
InfoPrint achieved ISO 14001 certification with two Environmental Management Systems (EMS) – one focused on operations while the other continually improves products. - Beyond the Printer
InfoPrint’s IBM and Ricoh heritage provides it with a strong background of sustainability initiatives. Ricoh was ranked in the “Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World” for the fifth straight year in 2009 and IBM continues to place innovative software and services at the forefront of their offerings. - Alternative Transportation
InfoPrint operates a Regional Transportation District (RTD) sales outlet offering discounted bus passes to employees, promotes Dump the Pump Day and Bike to Work Day and much more. - Forest Conservation
InfoPrint sponsors tree planting events on Arbor Day for employees, uses recycled paper and recycles paper to reduce a key impact of the print industry.
