InfoPrint Brings Workgroup Printers with Common Access Card (CAC) Authentication and Added Security to Federal Customers

Announcing a range of TAA/Government compliant workgroup solutions boasting high levels of security.

Boulder, CO. - April 14, 2009

InfoPrint Solutions Company, a joint venture between IBM and Ricoh, today announces a range of TAA/Government compliant workgroup solutions boasting high levels of security, with Common Access Card (CAC) authentication to guard critical data and protect against unauthorized access.

These solutions can be enhanced by InfoPrint’s world-class services team, who apply security considerations to the entire solution around the printer. They can help give agencies page level authentication and tracking of classified documents all the way from creation to destruction, by utilizing InfoPrint’s ProcessDirector (IPPD) software solution.

InfoPrint’s solutions are available on General Services Administration (GSA) schedule, NASA’s SEWP IV contract, and many agency level blanket purchase agreements (BPAs), via InfoPrint’s large network of 8(a) small or disadvantaged business partners.

“InfoPrint is supporting our Federal customers so they can accomplish their agency objectives, bringing secure solutions to market that are compliant with government standards, even before those standards become enacted,” said Eric Rahman Director & Regional GM, Federal Sales for InfoPrint. “Our experienced team includes veterans from Iraq to Vietnam era, and several reservists who are still serving. They know the demands placed on our warfighters, because they have lived it. All of our solutions are designed with that unique perspective in mind, from the inside out. We also have a keen eye on placing security and sustainability at the heart of our solutions, so that we can continue to deliver what our government customers need.”

Security of information at heart of product line

InfoPrint’s CAC authentication solution stays on the leading edge of Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12). HSPD-12 mandates for strong user authentication, data security and information assurance have led the Department of Defense (DoD) to require that all employees use the PKI certificate on their CAC to verify their identity and security classifications, and to authenticate access to the network from their computers.

InfoPrint’s range of CAC authenticated multifunction printers (MFPs) are enabled with S/MIME support for enhanced security and privacy so that ensure sensitive information is protected across all networked multifunction and scanning devices. This protects against unauthorized access and guards critical data, by preventing the use of network functions at the MFP until the user’s credentials have been authenticated.

Sustainability exceeds GSA requirements

InfoPrint’s TAA/Government compliant workgroup models also adhere to the GSA drive to make eco-friendly procurement easier for federal agencies, and have been designed and manufactured with the environment top of mind. All models will use substantially less energy than the previous models and have a unique “Eco-Mode” setting to further reduce energy consumption, along with Energy Star compliance. Standard duplex printing capability, high yield cartridges and reduced packaging are additional features to help decrease waste and cost. Improvements in scanning technology and internal airflow handling reduce noise pollution, with a quiet mode feature also available to further reduce noise. InfoPrint’s services offerings optimize workflow so that users only print what needs to be printed, and utilize digital workflow whenever possible.

Wide range of TAA/Government compliant workgroup solutions for price and performance

InfoPrint’s broad portfolio of workgroup solutions offer federal users several new, lower cost products to provide users more price and performance choices, in line with the GSA’s government-wide cost-minimizing policies. The TAA/Government compliant model range includes monochrome, color and multi-function devices.

The range of models available to GSA customers includes:
