Hardware Warranty and License Information

Printer warranty1

Our printers generally carry either a basic three-month or one year warranty1 with a version of on-site repair or a printer replacement plan. To maximize the printer availability, you can upgrade the characteristics of your maintenance coverage or increase the length of time your printer service is in effect.

You can change your printer service coverage at any time. Maintenance coverage changes that improve the features of your service plan become effective when your upgraded service contract is signed. Increasing the length of time your maintenance coverage is in effect is always inclusive of the basic warranty time period. The sooner you extend your coverage, the more cost effective and valuable the extension is to you.

When your basic warranty or extended service plan expires, our service support continues to be available to you on a time and materials basis. You can renew or re-engage a printer service plan at any time.

Patented Printer License Terms (n)

Some printers are subject to the terms of our Patented Printer License Terms. This license includes terms that pertain to the patented toner cartridges and developer components that come with the printer, including your agreement to use only genuine toner cartridges and developer components (exceptions apply) and to transfer this license if you ever transfer ownership of the printer. (These terms apply to the InfoPrint Color 1824 and InfoPrint Color 1826 MFP printers.)

Software Warranty and License Information

International Program License Agreement (IPLA) (n)

Most of our software products are licensed under the terms of our International Program License Agreement (IPLA). The IPLA provides important information and terms about your rights to use our software upon your purchase of a license. Such information and terms apply to all of our IPLA-licensed software products. Most of our software products also have a License Information (LI) document associated with them. The LI contains information specific to the relevant software products for which it applies and further defines the general terms that are stated in the IPLA. Taken together, the IPLA and the LI comprise your license agreement with us.

The IPLA and LI are generally presented to you for acceptance during product installation. The product installer refers you to this page to locate product licenses in languages that the installer is unable to display. Use the links to the right to review the IPLA and product-specific LIs in these languages:

  • Chinese (Simplified)
  • Chinese (Traditional)

License Agreement for Machine Code (n)

Most of our printers include some internal software, sometimes called Licensed Internal Code (LIC), such as microcode, basic input/output system code (called "BIOS"), utility programs, device drivers, and diagnostic code. All such code is licensed to you under the terms of our License Agreement for Machine Code. You must accept these license terms so that you can use Machine Code with the specific product that includes the code. Machine Code does not include programs and code provided under separate license agreements, including but not limited to open source license agreements.
